What is the meaning of the abbreviation WFI?

WFI stands for Water for Injection. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce injectable drugs where high purity is required.

What is WFI used for?

The water is used as a base material to produce injection solutions, infusions and parenteral drugs. It is also used to produce sterile solutions for the eyes, wound treatment and other medical applications. WFI is also used to clean and rinse pharmaceutical production facilities and equipment.

What must be considered in the production of WFI?

When manufacturing water for injection (WFI), strict standards and procedures must be followed to ensure that the water produced has the required quality.
