Specialised system for treating pre-treated well water for high-pressure boilers with steam turbines – designed for ambient temperatures of up to 50 °C.
A high-performance water treatment plant was required for a waste-to-energy plant in Abu Dhabi to supply a high-pressure boiler with a steam turbine. The particular challenge lay in ensuring reliable process safety at surrounding temperatures of up to 50 °C. At the same time, a consistently high water quality had to be guaranteed to ensure the long-term safe operation of the boiler.
A multi-stage treatment concept was implemented for the treatment of well water. The combination of activated carbon, water softening, reverse osmosis, membrane degassing, EDI and a mixed-bed polisher ensures a consistently high water quality for feeding a high-pressure boiler with a turbine. Water purity for use in the high-pressure boiler. The design as a customised system on tested and ready-to-install stainless steel skids enables robust and low-maintenance operation even under demanding environmental conditions.
The system combines several coordinated process steps to reliably remove dissolved organic matter, hardness-forming substances, salts, CO₂ and residual ions, thereby providing high-purity boiler feedwater
