We believe that sustainability does not begin with individual measures, and instead with a clear system. Therefore, Herco has been committed to EMAS since 2022: the European Union’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme. This environmental management system is regarded as one of the most demanding standards for corporate environmental and climate protection, and in many areas goes beyond the requirements of ISO 14001. For us, EMAS means shaping environmental responsibility in a way that is measurable and transparent. We systematically record relevant environmental indicators for our site and use them to derive specific measures. The aim is to continuously improve our environmental performance throughout the entire process chain.
However, we do not view sustainability in isolation, but as an integral part of our engineering and business processes. Right from the development stage of our water treatment systems, we ensure that they operate in the most resource-efficient manner possible through the use of energy-efficient components and intelligent control technology. Transparency is a key component of EMAS. Our environmental statement is regularly validated by independent environmental auditors and provides open documentation of our objectives, measures and progress. This creates a sense of commitment both internally and externally. EMAS is therefore not merely a certification for Herco, but a continuous improvement process with a clear aim: to develop technical solutions that conserve resources and demonstrate long-term responsibility.
