Herco at IFAT 2026 in Munich and Edwin Locker on the Blue Stage

Once again, IFAT Munich 2026 has demonstrated its role as the world’s leading platform for environmental technologies. In the trade fair’s anniversary year, around 3,400 exhibitors from some 60 countries presented innovative solutions for water, recycling and circularity. Around 142,000 visitors used the opportunity to engage in international dialogue on key future topics facing the industry.

Particularly at a time of growing demands on infrastructure, resource efficiency and security of supply, we can see how important high-performance water treatment systems are for industry and society. Herco was at IFAT with a booth together with the Pollet Water Group (PWG). For us, the trade fair provided a valuable opportunity to maintain existing partnerships, establish new contacts and discuss the latest developments in water technology within an international context.

A particular highlight was the participation of our Managing Director, Edwin Locker, in the IFAT conference programme. On the Blue Stage, he chaired the panel discussion entitled 'Wastewater Directive in Difficult Times – Ambitions, Cost and European Resilience'. The discussion focused on the current challenges surrounding European wastewater directives, investment needs and resilient infrastructure. Edwin Locker moderated the session in his capacity as Head of the European Regional Forum of the German Water Partnership.

In addition, Edwin Locker took part in the event 'Water & Hydrogen – Global Projects and Perspectives on Water Treatment' on the Hydrogen Stage at IFAT. The focus was on key issues facing the hydrogen economy: How much water does hydrogen production actually require? What treatment technologies are needed? And how can sustainable solutions be implemented on an industrial scale?

The discussion clearly showed that water is becoming a key factor in the success of the global hydrogen strategy. Consequently, the importance of efficient and reliable water treatment systems for future energy and industrial projects is growing.
