1 July 2026
On 24 and 25 June, Herco Wassertechnik took part in the Handelsblatt Live conference ‘Water as an Economic Factor 2026’. Together with experts from industry, business and politics, Swinda Rupp, Edwin Locker and Adrian Haradinaj discussed the growing importance of water as a strategic factor in site selection and production.
The high temperatures during the event brought the conference theme to life. Water stress is no longer an abstract issue of the future. Climate change, increasing periods of drought and growing demands placed on companies require new ways of thinking and collaborative solutions for the responsible management of water.
One special highlight of the programme was the expert presentation given by our Managing Director, Edwin Locker. Under the title ‘Circular Processes and Technological Solutions’, he demonstrated how industrial companies can increase the efficiency of their water cycles, conserve resources and sustainably strengthen their security of supply through water reuse concepts. After all, water is now far more than just a resource: it is a crucial factor for future viability, competitiveness and sustainable business practices.
We would like to thank all our discussion partners for the inspiring exchange and are taking many new ideas back with us from Berlin.
Visual impressions from the Handelsblatt Live conference “Water as an Economic Factor”
The countless conversations with companies, experts and decision-makers have once again demonstrated that the transition to a resilient water management system can only be achieved through the exchange of knowledge and the use of innovative technologies. Sustainable solutions require a combination of different approaches: from renaturation and water-sensitive land-use planning, which retain and store water within the landscape, to efficient water cycles in industry. The most effective approaches are those combining ecological, local and economic perspectives.
