Doing something good at Christmas

The Christmas season is also a time for community and charity. Herco has been supporting non-profit organisations and aid projects for many years - both in our region and in the global south. After all, we can only do good and report on it in co-operation with non-profit initiatives.

Therefore, this Christmas we are presenting projects that we support with company donations.

Our special Christmas donations are going to

  • Children's and youth hospice service: A donation of €1,500 was made to an organisation that supports families with children and young people with life-limiting illnesses in the Rems-Murr district. The ambulant service offers free support and counselling both at home and during hospital or care home stays.

  • Wishes come true: the ‘Sternentraum’ initiative has set itself the task of fulfilling the dreams of children with serious illnesses, disabilities or in a life crisis. Whether it's a day as a princess, a meeting with a favourite star or a family holiday - these special moments bring joy and hope. Herco is once again supporting ‘Sternentraum’ with €1,500 this year.

  • Environmental protection with the BUND local group in Freiberg: In order to protect nature and the environment, we are supporting local projects of BUND that are committed to preserving and maintaining our natural habitats with a company donation of €1,500. This is our contribution to biodiversity in the region.

  • Sustainable water projects in South Sudan: Access to clean water is vital - especially in conflict regions with water shortages. We therefore support International Aid Services Germany e.V. in its work in South Sudan with an annual donation of €7,500. One specific project is the Water Lab project: a mobile laboratory for water analysis is planned to be obtained and set up in the Nimule region in collaboration with the partner organisation CAWP. This will enable bacterial contamination of drinking water points to be easily detected and eliminated. As there is currently no such laboratory in South Sudan, many people suffer from water-borne diseases.
